When you question about how I know about all this, its simple. When you play the game for 30 months you find out about all these "exploits."

To say that ferrying to Mallyx is any different from the above is preposterous. Those guilty of any above are in the same position as this "exploit."

My question is.. where are these individual bans?
1) you dont get banned for using 3th party program who give some gain (good coordination with ventrillo), you might get banned, is anet choice.

they choiced to ban for this particular exploit, i agree with them.

They "carefully" found everyone who had been in the outpost, or done the quest from the outpost, which took no more than 5 minutes, highlighted all account names, and clicked the Ban button on their nifty little keyboard

Nah, just kidding, idk all of the people who were banned, so I have no idea how they did it, all I know is that alot of people associated with this were apparently perma-banned.

Well most of the people who are complaining here either implied or flat-out told us they did it more than once. So this time I'm taking Anets side. One time going in should be investigated. Twice should be an auto-ban.

It is quite funny how people have to hack in Guild Wars.

Of course, we need to note that within those 117 people, there are people who had no idea that they were exploiting a bug as they were just dragged into this horrible mess. However, we need to understand that their accounts are banned for temporary measure, so that the economy won't be affected by this problem. If you are one of the 117 people, good luck to you, and if you are truly as innocent as you speak of, I hope the best resolution can be made.

However, with this said, we need to note, there are those people who exploited the bug and hacked the game. Even though Anet may have been a contributer to this problem, we should not overlook that these players have the responsibility to their account for not hacking and exploiting a bug. In other words, if they deserved it, they will be banned, and I really don't see the point in defending them as if they are truly innocent.

I feel that the ban is needed because of the severity of the consequences. In a way, it rewards the 'exploiters' with more wealth (gems/greens/golds) if they are not punished.

If someone is accidentally brought there, and done the exploit once only. I believe he/she should be spared from the ban stick. But however, if he did a few times, then sadly, he/she needs a very very good arguement to not get the punishment.

But then again, if I accidentally discover such a outpost. 1 gemset every (how many mins again), I think I will be farming that area instead of thinking if it is an exploit, and whether I will be banned for it.

I am DEFINITELY not one of the 117 then.

Edit: I posted earlier, I did it 5 times, once to finish the quest, 4 more times because my friends told me it was fine, and that there was no exploit or bug. I stopped after that. I also posted that it was my first time doing Mallyx. Ever. So I really had no idea what was going on. If there are more people out there that did this and are still online, I'm just a tiny bit pissed.

Guess using a pick to express one's opinion only works "sometimes".

Anyway regarding the [Dev Update], good work on fixing the Exploit and Banning the people that used it.

I blame the person who needed to brag about this on the boards two days ago.

First rule of MMOs: You do not talk about exploits.
Second rule of MMOs: You do not talk about exploits.

This exploit was apparently known for months. It was reported for months. Yet it wasn't until someone spilled the beans on forums that bans happened.

Remember the first rule of MMOs?

The outpost was hidden and had never existed before. It could *only* be reached with a hack. They were banning people for hacking and banning people who could not think clearly.

That would be a very swarmed outpost if it was right outside of Mallyx's gates. And if it was in an update, word would've gotten out quickly: Remember how totally crowded Urgoz became when you were able to farm the beginning area?

An exploit and a hack are two very different things.

Honestly, i think when 117 people are smart enough to actually hack Anets servers I say, employ them, they'll probably do better that the current team out there.

Yeah Mickey doesn't strike me as the heavy exploiter so I doubt your friend will be playing for so long, btw how long did this thing last before they were caught?

Ya, it does. Also covers gold-selling sites and the like. Anyway, we're being dragged-offtopic by someone who doesn't comprehend the rules.

On-topic, the excuse "only one person had to hack to give all of us access" is really, really weak. That just means you're knowingly using the result of a hack, thus no better than the one who opened the exploit in the first place.

On the first page, in Gaile's statement..."and we will ban more accounts as appropriate as we review additional logs gathered after the initial bans".

They could ban these people as well if they like. Anet doesn't have to give the same punishment to everyone, they don't have to treat everyone equally. If someone breaks the user agreement they can hand out whatever punishment they see fit. People shouldn't be unbanned just because not everyone involved or not everyone who has done someting wrong has been punished. The fact is they did something that was clearly wrong, they got caught and they suffered the consequences. Maybe they will use better judgement in the future, but I doubt it.

Seriously People act like this is another exploit where they can copy ectos or copy ambraces. This is not one of those incidences my friend that did this. just wanted it done fast and easy. From what he told me it took about 20 minutes to do just for one set of gems. This is a small exploit because when ive gone out and wanted to buy ectos ive had people pm me saying they had 20 stacks of ectos they want to sell and their not banned give me a break. Im not farming DOA until the innocent get unbanned. I am very experienced at farming it and last time I went to DOA it has lost alot of people It takes me only 2 and a half hours to do a full mallyx run all four bosses and way more gems. The mapping glitch I heard of that came around and got fixed the next day. But then the mapping glitch came back come on arenanet cant you fix a glitch and keep it fixed, I bet more people mapped on the second time around then anything. I sort of wanted to be a part of that Im not going to lie I want to get as much done as possible before GW2 comes out and get as many titles as possible. but it takes more money then I can get to buy sweet tooth and drunkard max.

Default on being banned

first of all. there were people banned that didnt know it was wrong. Since they had never killed Mallyx, they assumed it was like the sorrows funace quest " a final assault" where only one person needed to have it to be able to go straight to mallayx.
